Dirk van Saene is a Flemish fashion designer born in 1959.
He graduated from the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Antwerp Fashion Academy) in 1981. Together with Walter Van Beirendonck (graduated in 1980), Dries van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester, Marina Yee (graduated in 1981) and Dirk Bikkembergs (graduated in 1982) he became known as one of the Antwerp Six.
Van Saene decided to work in Antwerp, where he opened his own shop.
He organized his first show in Paris in 1990, with his own collection.
With his good friend, Walter Van Beirendonck, he set up the multi-brand store "Walter".
