From 12/13/09, the heart of Europe will beat even faster thanks to Thalys, the train that connects Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam and Cologne.  New travel times:  Brussels - Amsterdam: 1 hr-53 mins, Brussels - Rotterdam: 1 hr-11 mins, Brussels - Cologne: 1 hr-47 min and Brussels - Aachen: 1 hr-8 min.

Welcome aboard "Le Fabuleux Destin" a beautifully converted barge built in 1964, moored in Hasselt.  Enjoy warm hospitality in one of four luxurious guest rooms, each with en-suite facilities including a walk-in shower.  A delightful breakfast is served in the former captain's lodge, or weather permitting, on deck.  In the hold, relax in the heated pool, no matter the season.

The Maxhotel opening in the spring of 2010 embraces a new concept for the center of Brussels- a no star property! 3 Stars Hotels, acquired the hotel President Nord and decided to turn it into a "chic and cheap" hotel. All rooms will be equipped with a/c, bathroom, tv & internet Wi-Fi.  The Maxhotel will be able to offer 63 rooms at prices varying from € 34,00 and € 89,00 per night.

Ghent is really worth a visit in the winter too.  The wonderful atmosphere of the Christmas market and the outdoor ice rink between the Belfry and the St. Nicholas' Church are two special attractions, but there's plenty more to experience from the fireworks at Portus Ganda on New Year's Eve to the City of Ghent's free New Year's drink on 1/10/10 at 11 AM.
