Ghent Marriott Hotel ****

Nice hotel next to one of the main canals in Ghent. Very central, close to the lovely boutique designer shops and cafes, bars and restaurants. Nice room with twin beds, everything clean and well presented. Large open atrium where you can have snacks and drinks. Nice restaurant with windows overlooking the canal so you can watch the boats go up and down, and we saw a bride and her party sipping champagne as they went by boat to the church. A very pleasant experience.

Normally when we travel abroad, we like to stay at small, local hotels. So, this would seem like an odd choice, but was actually perfect. We had just arrived from the states - tired, jet lagged and trying to get acclimated in a country where we don't know the language. This Marriott is in an old building on the main canal. We had a beautiful room with all the amenities one would expect in a Marriott, including free wi-fi. And the staff is incredibly friendly. Even though we arrived before check-in, they got us into our room. Emmy, at the front desk was an absolute sweetheart - giving us directions, dinner recommendations, sight seeing advice, etc. The locaion is perfect - right in the heart of the city and in easy walking distance to all the main tourist sites. Make sure to take a walk at night. The city is absolutely magical at night.

Amazing location. There are 2 entrances to the hotel, street-side and canal side. Canal side is extraordinary. Staff was friendly and accommodating. We had 2 rooms which were both comfortable and quiet and ready upon arrival prior to check-in time. Hot water kettles were available in the room. Room service breakfast was inferior. Omelette was overcooked and over-fried. Very disappointing.

This hotel was excellent in every area - location, value for money, service, quality, etc. The rooms are very nice, the breakfast was great and most of all the location is stunning, it is in the heart of the city, Ghent is a very beautiful city, I would recommend this hotel and the city

We stayed here for two separate nights, on our way to and from a skiing holiday in Austria, with our then 14 month old daughter. The hotel's location is fantastic - perfect for us as we only had a few hours to explore as we just stayed for a night at a time. The staff, both in the hotel and in the Korenhuis restaurant at breakfast, were great with our daughter and friendly and welcoming to us all. The car park under the hotel is not cheap but was extremely convenient for us with our luggage and daughter to carry to and from the car. For a very pleasant and comfortable hotel with good service in a superb location, the Marriott Ghent really can't be beaten
